Roasted Eel and Apple Avocado Mayo Onion Salad
accompanied by fresh lemon slices, Rakkyo pickles and Tobiko
Today’s breakfast was made out of a filling start of the day. Having a recharging break before get totally exhausted. How to get away from brutal post vacation blues, worked well.
One of nice autumn/winter season salad recipes. Even though it’s with fresh salad, certainly a warm you up meal.
Roasted eel has so rich and fluffy flavor. Besides with sauce or not, either way very delish. Packed with energy, certainly it’s great as a warming dish.
Generally Teriyaki sauce/Hoisin sauce(or those based sauce) is very popular for many people as a good pairing for eel. Also, grilled/roasted eel is served with white rice in many cases such as Una Don. Still I highly recommend going this composition. Just go roast/grill eel. And then, take it with lemon slices, Rakkyo pickles, Tobico and fresh salad garnished with pickled onions julienned. It will make it better your mouthfeel. Never oily or greasy. Clearly there is no bad aftertaste even though the combination of eel and fresh veggies is not a typical pairing. As lemon, Rakkyo and Tobico will add up to a balanced flavor, you could enjoy a savory and catchy meal time.
Mostly I prefer to make the salad paired with sweet and sour sauce in action. This batch was made from fresh apple grated, onions minced and non fat yogurt. White sauce(which is mingled with apples and onions) will go well with eel. It would be a likely option for this as much as it’s great for salmon.
You could just choose black sesame sauce over this. In that case, it might be better to skip toasted sesame seeds and ground black pepper. Ground chili peppers(which is not smoked)/sliced green peppers seeded will make it great.
